In reply to your letter of the 4 lepil 1884, I am ducited by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you for the -information of the Earl of Derby, that the botal copenditure which has been recommended for completing and Arming the Court batteries of Stony Mong but exclure of Naval defences, Submarine mines, and defences against attacks by land is $ 93, 125, or Jay £100,000.
1. Lord Hartington has at present noobseration to offer on the proposal that the Wolony should raise this sum
beloon.
As he assumes that this will be dealt with by the Euly Derty in correspondence
with the Treasurytan
